L’aphantasie et l’imagerie tactile

Cette présentation examine l’impact de l’aphantasie sur l’expérience esthétique multisensorielle, en mettant l’accent sur la modalité tactile. Bien que l’imagerie soit le plus souvent étudiée dans le domaine visuel, l’imagerie tactile joue un rôle crucial lorsque l’exploration directe n’est pas possible. À partir d’une étude comparant un groupe d’aphantasiques à un groupe contrôle, j’exposerai comment l’aphantasie affecte non seulement l’imagerie visuelle, mais également  l’imagerie tactile. Ces différences se relient notamment à une moindre « Ouverture à l’Expérience » et à des évaluations hédoniques réduites dans des situations où l’expérience multisensorielle est incomplète. L’aphantasie offre ainsi un cadre pertinent pour comprendre le rôle de la simulation mentale dans l’esthétique et la cognition multisensorielle.

The ICARUS seminar (Imagination, Creativity, Affect, Reverie, Utopia, Senses) will focus on the interdisciplinary study of the boundary line that separates, for our minds, reality from everything that transcends it. By bringing together philosophy and the cognitive sciences, we will explore the capacities and states (notably imagination and dreaming) that enable us to re-elaborate sensory and affective data and to apprehend the world from new perpectives, even from other worlds or utopias. Drawn into its wanderings and reveries, the mind is capable of producing ideas or objects deemed novel and valuable, in other words, of pispaying creativity. But how far can we take this power that we have received as a species (and perhaps not just us, human beings) ? It is advisable not to fly too close to the sun.
