Summer School on Consciousness and Metacognition 2022

The Summer School on Consciousness and Metacognition 2022 will be the second in a series of three interdisciplinary Summer Schools organised by UCL in London (UK) and PSL in Paris (France). Its aim is to serve as an intensive workshop, knowledge exchange and networking opportunity.

SSCHOOLThe Summer School on Consciousness and Metacognition is an interdisciplinary and collaborative project, bringing together researchers from PSL University and University College London (UCL), financed by the joint research fund set up by the two universities.

This year’s Summer School is hosted by PSL in Paris from 13 to 15 June 2022

Research on consciousness and metacognition ("thinking about thinking") spans neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and artificial intelligence, and is naturally interdisciplinary. There is a rich and growing tradition of research on these topics in London and Paris, and particularly at UCL and PSL. The science of consciousness is a rapidly growing field, with the journal Science identifying problems of consciousness as one of the major challenges of the 21st century. However, despite the excitement of this field of research, the tools and interdisciplinary context needed to conduct robust and impactful research in the field of consciousness science are rarely acquired in traditional graduate or postdoctoral studies, even in cognitive science.

The Summer School will allow faculty from both sites to share their latest research, and students to interact with each other and with the lecturers, to provide feedback and to generate new ideas for research and collaboration. It will also create natural opportunities for students to organise research visits between London and Paris, and allow for longer-term student mobility and the recruitment of post-docs.

 Applications are open !

Applications deadline : midnight on Thursday March 31st.
