Si les études en sciences cognitives conduisent souvent à une carrière académique, il existe aussi des débouchés importants hors de la recherche universitaire. Le séminaire DEC AltAc (Alternative to Academia) est un rendez-vous mensuel durant lequel des personnes ayant eu une formation en sciences cognitives montrent aux chercheurs et aux étudiants du département les nombreuses façons dont leurs connaissances en sciences cognitives peuvent être appliquées en dehors du monde académique.

Les étudiants préparant le diplôme de l'ENS peuvent valider leur présence sous la forme de crédits. 

Ce séminaire offre l'opportunité pour les membres du DEC d'interagir avec des personnes aux carrières diverses. Les présentations sont courtes et suivies d'une discussion où tous les participants sont libres de poser des questions aux intervenants sur leur parcours professionnel, leurs motivations, leurs intérêts, leurs projets et les difficultés qu'ils rencontrent.

Programme 2020-2021

Les sessions ont lieu de 11h30 à 12h30 à l'ENS et sont ouvertes exclusivement aux membres du DEC et aux étudiants du Cogmaster.

"Behavioral Science for Communication" - Arno Fontaine

Arnaud FontaineArno Fontaine est diplômé de Sciences Po Grenoble et de Paris II Panthéon Assas, où il a obtenu un Master en gouvernance économique internationale. Après avoir fait de la recherche économique pour la France chez Natixis, il est aujourd'hui en charge du suivi macroéconomique et des projets de gouvernance économique et financière au bureau de l'AFD à Jakarta, en Indonésie. En mars 2021, il a co-créé Facts (www.reseaufacts.com), une association qui vise à aborder l'actualité et les débats publics sous l'angle du comportement humain, en rendant l'économie comportementale et les sciences cognitives accessibles au plus grand nombre. Il est également économiste chez BSI Economics et enseigne l'économie générale à l'ISG - International Business School depuis début 2020.

"Consulting to Optimize Learning and Educational Assessments" - Alice Latimier, Ava Guez

LatimierAlice Latimier is a doctor in cognitive science. She wrote a thesis on the optimization of learning through the prism of digital technology in the context of the e-Fran grant (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations). She is now training Ph.D. students in Open Science at the University of Paris and is a consultant on research in learning in the private and public sectors. Her current collaborations include: N'oublie Jamais, Edumalin, MySkillz, SNP (reSeau des Professionnels du Numérique), and Cog’X. 

 

GuetsAva Guez is a consultant at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Directorate for Education and Skills. She is currently working on several projects aimed at improving learning assessment capacity in primary and secondary education in Morocco. During her Ph.D. in cognitive science, she studied the cognitive and environmental predictors of academic achievement in France (children of 11 to 15 years) by analyzing longitudinal data from two French cohort studies (the Eden mother-child cohort, Inserm and the DEPP 2007 Panel, French Ministry of education).January 21

"Improving Daily Experiences and Needs: SNCF & RATP" - Chantal Joie-La Marle, Bastien Perroy

Chantal Joie-La MarleChantal Joie-La Marle is Innovation Manager and a clinical psychologist. She is at the head of the SNCF IMPACT Lab. She is currently completing a thesis on the impact of soft skills metacognition on self-efficacy and adaptive performance at the University of Paris (Descartes). She joined the SNCF in 2001 as a research manager in the Innovation & Research department. In 2012, she was asked to create a Lab dedicated to Mass Transit issues. The goal of this lab was to offer a more fluid and qualitative experience for the increasing number of travelers in hyper-dense urban areas. She has now joined the Social, Territorial, and Environmental Engagement Directorate of the SNCF Group, managing a Lab dedicated to transformation issues, innovative projects, and training.

Bastien PerroyBastien Perroy is doing a CIFRE thesis with the RATP and the Institut Jean-Nicod on the temporal disorientation of travelers. After completing a master's degree in management, he obtained a master's degree in philosophy from the ENS, where he specialized in cognitive philosophy.

Arthur MullerArthur Muller is the co-founder of Explained, a technology company that develops solutions to understand public opinion at a hyperlocal level, where he is in charge of product development and recruiting. He is currently helping build Goodwill, Explain's AI-powered local analysis and monitoring software. He also served as an advisor to the director-general of education (DGESCO, French K-12 education system) from 2012-2013.

DumasThibaud Dumas is the Incubator Director at Matrice, an educational, innovation and entrepreneurship institute originally in relation to 42, the computer programming school.Thibaud has a PhD in Neuroscience from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie. He is also the co-founder of myBrain Technologies and is currently the scientific director at Into the Tribe, and President of the group "Attention Hyperconnexion", where he examines the relationship between the brain and new technologies and conducts training and conferences to help companies and their employees optimize their digital use.
