Paribas or Barry’s Pa? – Age-related changes in the neural representations of voice onset time in the inferior colliculu

Abstract:

The inferior colliculus (IC) integrates a variety of inputs to perform spectrotemporal processing in the primary auditory pathway, including temporal to rate transformations. The temporal to rate transformations occurring in the IC make it important to understand how the auditory pathway is able to adapt to changes in hearing abilities, such as due to aging or noise-induced hearing loss.

New Ideas in Cognitive Development (LSCP)

2013

  • Workshop "Zero Resource Speech Technologies and Language Acquisition Modeling":

This workshop gathered an interdisciplinary panel of cognitives scientists and engineers from speech and language technologies on the topic of the unsupervised discovery of linguistic structures by machine and infants. In this workshop a number of fruitful research lines and collaborations were initiated:

New Ideas in the Philosophy of Mind and Language (IJN)

The programme is used to co sponsor the events organized with the cooperative research networks that have been officially set up in recent years such as the Philosophy of Language and Mind network, and the Cooperative Research Network in Analytic Philosophy (CRNAP). The relevant cooperative activities include not only the organisation of workshops and conferences (including graduate conferences) but also visits of both faculty and graduate students.

New Ideas in Mathematical Philosophy (IHPST – IJN)

Mathematical philosophy consists in the use of formal methods taken from different disciplines (computer science, formal semantics, mathematical logic, probability theory) to elucidate questions belonging to different fields of philosophy, most centrally problems in epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, decision theory and rationality.

New Ideas in Computational Neuroscience (LNC/GNT)

One of the central goals of the program is to develop and encourage collaborations between the computational neuroscience researchers of the IEC and international partners as well as to promote exposure of the IEC trainees to cutting edge research and improve the visibility of the IEC computational neuroscience community.

In order to achieve its goals the program is situated in the GNT. The program has three activity tracks: the GNT seminar series in theoretical neuroscience, the NICNeuro visitorship program and NICNeuro focused workshops in computational neuroscience.
